Tokyo Summary
The closing ceremony of the Games was held on Sunday, August 8, closing out an intense 14 days of competition. LOOK is proud to share the full report of our athletes' results across all disciplines.
In road cycling, 22-year-old Tadej Pogacar from Slovenia followed up his Tour de France victory with a bronze medal in the men's road race on Saturday, July 24. Starting as one of the favorites for the win, the young prodigy blew the race apart with an aggressive attack on Mikuni Pass, a 10km climb at an average of 10.6%. Cresting the summit with only 34km left to go, the peloton had been whittled down to 10 riders. Ecuador's Richard Carapaz took home gold with a solo break and only Belgium's Wout Van Aert was faster than Tadej Pogacar in the dash to the line. Tadej was riding the KEO BLADE CARBON Ceramic TI pedals for his first Olympic venture. Simply mind-blowing.
The very next day, Annemiek van Vleuten of The Netherlands won silver in the women's road race. At 38 years young, the reigning European champion thought she finally held the Olympic title after her spectacular crash in Rio 2016, sustained only a few kilometers from the finish as she lead the race. Yet that was forgetting Austrian Anna Kiesenhofer, the only survivor of the morning breakaway, who succeeded in holding off the powerful Dutch team in a chaotic race where communication was muddled by the absence of earpieces. Annemiek Van Vleuten made up for it the next day by winning gold in the individual time trial. In the end, it was one athlete and two medals for our KEO 2 MAX CARBON pedals.
In triathlon, 33-year-old Alice Betto from Italy was taking part in her first Olympic Games. The former three-time Italian champion took 7th in the women's individual event on Monday, July 26, before finishing 8th in the mixed relay on Saturday, July 31. A new member of the LOOK team, Alice did not go unnoticed with her 795 BLADE RS bike fitted with our AERO DESIGN stem, AERO DESIGN 2.1 handlebars and KEO BLADE CARBON Ceramic Ti pedals.
Loana Lecomte of France took 6th place in the women's MTB cross-country event on Tuesday, July 27. Riding our X-TRACK RACE CARBON Ti pedals, the reigning U23 World Champion was also competing in her first Olympics. After winning the first four stages of the World Cup and before setting her sights on Paris 2024, the 22-year-old will attempt to finish the season on a high at the last two World Cup events in September.
Last but not least, the track cycling events saw success from federations and athletes equipped with the LOOK R96 and T20, with a total of 7 medals:

Paris 2024
These 7 medals add to the tally of 43 medals, of which 14 gold, already won by LOOK athletes since Atlanta 1996! In Tokyo, 5 of these medals were won by female athletes. While Mathilde Gros and Loana Lecomte may not have stepped onto the podium, LOOK already wishes them all the best for Paris 2024. These two young athletes will be racing on home soil: Loana on the national velodrome in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines and Mathilde on the trails and hills of Élancourt.
